Fletschhorn, Saas-Balen, Visp, Wallis, 3908, Švicarska
The Fletschhorn, rising to 3,986 meters, is a notable mountain in the Pennine Alps, positioned between Valais’ Saas and Simplon Valleys in Switzerland. Part of the Weissmies group and situated north of the Lagginhorn, this peak has been a subject of cartographic curiosity, with its height variably mapped at 3,993 meters and more precisely at 3,986 meters in different scales of Swiss topographical maps.
The mountain’s inaugural ascent was undertaken by Michael Amherdt, accompanied by guides Johannes Zumkemmi and Friedrich Clausen, in August 1854. The Fletschhorn’s formidable north face, a noteworthy challenge for mountaineers, was first successfully climbed on July 25, 1927, by E. R. Blanchet with guides Oskar Supersaxo and Kaspar Mooser. This climb added to the rich alpinist heritage of the region, underlining the mountain’s allure for climbers and adventure enthusiasts.
