Blümlisalphorn, Kandersteg, Frutigen-Niedersimmental administrative district, Oberland administrative region, Bern, 3718, Švicarska
Blüemlisalp, a notable massif in the Bernese Alps, stands within the Swiss municipalities of Kandersteg and Reichenbach im Kandertal. This impressive range comprises several key peaks: Blüemlisalphorn at 3,661 meters, Wyssi Frau at 3,648 meters, and Morgenhorn at 3,623 meters.
Located entirely within the canton of Berne, Blüemlisalp forms a high ridge, notable for its precipitous southeast side. The massif connects with the Doldenhorn group to the west, and extends eastwards to the Gspaltenhorn. The southern connection to the Bernese Alps’ main crest is marked by the Tschingel Pass.
Climbers typically start their ascent from the Blüemlisalphütte, located at 2,840 meters, traversing glaciers and passing the Wildi Frau peak. The Blüemlisalp Glacier, a significant ice stream in the region, descends between its peaks, contributing to the area’s alpine character.
The highest peak, Blüemlisalphorn, was first summited in 1860 by Leslie Stephen, R. Liveing, J.K. Stone, and guides Melchior Anderegg and Pierre Simond. The massif’s remarkable profile, including its glaciers and rugged peaks, makes it a prominent feature in the Swiss Alps’ landscape.
