Lyskamm, known in German as Liskamm and historically as Silberbast, is a significant peak in the Pennine Alps, located on the border between Switzerland and Italy. Towering at 4,533 meters, it comprises a five-kilometer-long ridge with two main peaks. Notorious for its challenging conditions, including dangerous cornices and frequent avalanches, Lyskamm has earned the nickname Menschenfresser, or “people eater.”

Despite its relatively high prominence, Lyskamm is often seen as part of the extended Monte Rosa group. The mountain features two distinct summits: Eastern Lyskamm and the slightly lower Western Lyskamm. The north face of Lyskamm presents an imposing 1,100-meter ice wall above the Grenzgletscher, contrasting with its more gradual southern ascent from the Lysgletscher.
