Le Râteau, a notable peak in the Massif des Écrins of the French Alps, stands majestically at an elevation of 3,809 meters (12,497 feet). This mountain, with its unique and striking appearance, is located in the Hautes-Alpes department of France. Its name, translating to “The Rake” in English, fittingly describes its resemblance to a rake or comb, characterized by a series of prominent teeth-like summits.

Nestled in a scenic alpine landscape, Le Râteau commands a dramatic view over the Romanche river valley and the quaint village of La Grave. Its proximity to the iconic Meije peak, separated only by a connecting ridge, further enhances its allure in the eyes of mountaineers and nature enthusiasts.

The mountain features two distinct peaks, each contributing to its distinctive profile. Le Râteau’s unique shape and towering presence make it a subject of fascination and a popular destination for those exploring the rugged beauty of the French Alps.
