Dammastock, Obergoms, Goms, Wallis, Švicarska
Dammastock, soaring to 3,630 meters, is the pinnacle of the Urner Alps, located in Switzerland. It’s notably the tallest peak in the Uri canton and forms a significant part of the Winterberg massif. Straddling the border of Uri and Valais cantons, its proximity to the Eggstock marks the tri-junction of the Uri, Bern, and Valais cantons. The area surrounding Dammastock is a glacial haven, with the massive Rhone Glacier on its western flank, the Damma Glacier to the east, and the Trift Glacier in the north. Its first successful ascent was on July 28, 1864, by Albert Hoffmann-Burkhardt, accompanied by guides Johann Fischer and Andreas von Weissenfluh. The mountain, with its ice-clad slopes, is a fascinating destination for climbers and nature enthusiasts. Nearby, the Dammastock Hut at 2,445 meters and the Hotel Tiefenbach at 2,109 meters provide convenient access and accommodations for visitors.
